The Great Gate of Kiev

Now the sun is finally up,
Night’s comfort lifted
Dawn’s gentleness, too, is gone
Pastels and prettiness flown
Away with a song bird’s chorus.

As if in the wings awaiting
An overture’s expectant end
Day hesitates in stillness
While the moment is hung
And soundless gone

Then bold light blows across dreams
Like wind across slow streams
Moving urgency and life.
Morning opens like the Great Gate of Kiev
Inviting all to wake, walk, love and live!
